about

This song is based on a true story. The spent mash from the Whyte & Mackay distillery in Invergordon was disposed of through a pipe to the beach. Gulls would eat the mash, get quite drunk, and harass the locals. I learned this song from David Kessler, a wonderful singer who was kind enough to lend his voice to this track (and who also composed the third verse of the version I sing here). The tune at the end is Banish Misfortune.
